CAIRO - 13 October 2018: The Ministry of Tourism hired Preverisk Group to assess hotels in Hurghada as the first phase of the Structural Reform Program aiming to increase the tourism sector’s competitiveness.

The same check-ups will take place in the rest of Egypt's touristic cities with the aim of improving the quality of services offered for tourists, and developing Egyptian hotels evaluation systems.

The company will cooperate with inspectors from the ministries of health and tourism to scrutinize hotels and resorts in Hurghada and identify the mechanism necessary to enhance the criteria of health and safety. Workers dealing with food and beverage will receive training, and follow-ups will be conducted.

The Hotels Chamber will send Hurghada hotels a list of technical aspects to be addressed. Those include food safety systems, water management systems, personal hygiene training programs, swimming pool hygiene, workers' dorms and facilities, and pesticide application instructions.

Preverisk is an international consultancy group servicing the tourism sector and specializing in health and safety solutions. It operates in 40 cities and 18 countries and works consistently according to the criteria and guidelines set by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO).

In August, a British couple died in Hurghada’s Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel because of an E.Coli bacteria infection, according to the autopsy report issued by the Egyptian Forensic Medicine Authority in September.
