CAIRO - 5 June 2018: Ahmed Abdel Aal, chairman of the board of directors of the General Meteorological Authority, announced that Egypt is expected to experience a gradual rise in temperature starting Thursday June 6 until Monday June 11, reaching a scorching heat wave.

He also sent an official letter to the General Meteorological Authority in which he added that it’s expected that the heat wave will hit all of Egypt's governorates with a 3 to 5 degrees higher than the normal ratio, especially in areas covering the North Coast.

The level of Humidity will also rise in the northern region of the country reaching 85 percent which makes the heat wave intolerable. The wind is going to be somewhat active from the northern region of the country to the northern side of Upper Egypt; it’s also going to be active in South Sinai which will affect navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez.

The General Meteorological Authority advises people to drink plenty of fluids and avoid direct contact with the sun for a long period of time.

It also demanded each Governorate take the necessary precautions to protect the citizens from such a heat wave.

The weather forecast predicted during the peak of the heat wave is:

● North-West coasts from 32°c to 34°c.
● North Sinai from 33°c to 35°c.
● Governorates of the sea-side and Cairo from 38°c to 41°c.
● Governorates of North Upper Egypt from 39°c to 41°c.
● Governorates of South Upper Egypt from 42°c to 43°c.
