CAIRO – 29 May 2018: The Egyptian Embassy in Colombo on Monday hosted a ceremony to commemorate the fifty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity.

Ambassador Hussein Al-Saharti reviewed Egypt's relations with the African countries and its leading role in peacekeeping operations, supporting development efforts and defending the interests of the continent.

Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity, now known as the African Union, on 25 May 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.
