CAIRO – 14 May 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Saturday an invitation to attend the Arab Islamic American Summit in Riyadh, which will be held on May 21, in the presence of American President Donald Trump.

The invitation came during a meeting with Saudi State Minister Essam bin Saeed, where the latter delivered the greetings of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to Sisi and expressed Saudi Arabia’s anticipation to Egypt’s participation in the summit, according to a presidential statement.

The summit hosted by Saudi Arabia will take place on the sidelines of U.S. President Donald Trump’s first visit to the kingdom. Riyadh has also invited Jordan, UAE and Bahrain to attend the summit.

Bin Saeed emphasized the strength of the strategic and historical relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, expressing his country’s keenness to enhance all aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as continuous coordination and consultation with Egypt regarding regional issues, in order to achieve the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations.

Sisi also stressed Egypt’s anticipation to develop and expand cooperation with Saudi Arabia in different fields. He expressed his appreciation for the summit invitation in light of the challenges faced by the Arab world, especially in terms of counterterrorism.
