CAIRO – 10 May 2018: The Executive Board of the Arab Justice Ministers Council called Wednesday for the enhancement of cooperation to encounter terrorism and dry up the sources of funding.

This came at the conclusion of the 62nd session of the Executive Board of the Arab Justice Ministers Council, which was held at the Arab League’s secretariat general in Cairo.

The session focused on the measures and procedures of fighting terrorism, which should be compatible with the principles of international law, taking into account human rights and the international humanitarian law.

The session, conducted under the chairmanship of Kuwait, called all member states of the council to brief national authorities responsible for eradicating terrorism on the importance of the aforementioned principles and measurements.

Participants urged Arab countries to boost cooperation in the field of sharing information regarding the fight against terrorist organizations, in addition to the activation of the 4th article of the Arab convention on combating terrorism.

The 4th article of the convention stipulates that contracting states shall cooperate for the prevention and suppression of terrorist offences, in accordance with the domestic laws and regulations of each state.

It also calls states to cooperate in the exchange of information for the suppression of terrorist offences and promptly notify other states of all the information or data in their possession that may prevent the occurrence of terrorist offences in their territory.
