CAIRO – 29 March 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Thursday Lieutenant-General Zubair Mahmud Hayat, Pakistan's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) in Cairo.

During their meeting, which saw the attendance of the Minister of Defense and Military Production and the Pakistani Ambassador in Cairo, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi praised the strong historical relations between the two countries and both expressed their aspiration to further boost the mutual cooperation and consultation in the issues that are of a mutual interest.

President Sisi also affirmed that the true jihad (struggle) is to raise people’s standard of living through development, quality education and advanced health services under the framework of the enlightening Islamic teachings of peace.

For his part, the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani armed forces expressed his happiness over his recent visit to Egypt, emphasizing the deep people-to-people relations and hailed the achievements made over the recent period in a wide range of files, including the military achievements realized notably in the comprehensive military operation of Sinai 2018.

The Pakistani Chief of Staff expressed his appreciation for the governmental economic reform program and the national projects aimed at achieving comprehensive development.

He further stressed that Egypt's stability is key to the stability of the region, which is vital to the Pakistani security interests.
