CAIRO - 3 May 2017: The Parliament’s sessions on the maritime demarcation accord with Saudi Arabia, which includes the handing over of Red Sea islands Tiran and Sanafir to Saudi Arabia, will be broadcast live on TV, head of the Parliament’s Legislative and Constitutional Affairs Committee Bahaa Abu-Shaqqa said Tuesday.

Abu-Shaqqa said that the sessions to discuss the issue have not yet been scheduled. He added that the committee will study the agreement in the light of the Egyptian constitution, after which it will determine whether the approval will need a parliament consensus or a public referendum.

Abu-Shaqqa stated that the committee will look at all the documents and maps related to the agreement before making any decision.
