CAIRO - 22 January 2018: Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb stressed on Monday that the bloody attack on Al Rawda mosque in Sinai brought Egyptians together against terrorism and made them more determined to uproot it.

Sheikh Tayyeb said during his meeting with a number of clan chiefs in Al Rawda village in Bir al Abd of North Sinai that Al Azhar stands by the army and Sinai residents in the battle against terrorism and extremist ideology.

The clan chiefs thanked the top imam for his great support of the village residents and his visit to the village one week after the bloody attack.

They also lauded his decision to set up an Azhari complex in the village.

The terrorist attack, the deadliest in the history of Egypt, left 311 people dead and 122 wounded.
