CAIRO – 8 January 2017: Egypt's 2018 presidential elections will kick off on March 26, National Electoral Commission announced on Monday.

Eligible voters will cast their ballot in the election on March 26-28, while expatriates will vote on March 16-18, said Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) Lasheen Ibrahim in a press conference.

The final list of the candidates will be announced on February 24, he added, noting that the deadline for any candidate to retreat will be on March 1. The primary results of the first round of the election will be announced on March 29, while the final results of the first round will be stated on April 2 after reviewing any appeals presented.

The three-day run-off round will start on April 24 domestically and on April 19 for expatriates.

The name of the winning candidate will be announced on May 1, Ibrahim said.
