CAIRO –3 January 2018: Since 2014 to the present, the Ministry of Education built 32,054 school facilities, including classrooms and expansions of already existing school buildings, the director of the School Buildings Authority, Yousry Abdallah, said on Wednesday in a press statement.
Abdallah also added that 32,548 classrooms were built over the past four years and are ready for students and teachers, stressing that the authority completed the construction of 7,232 classrooms in July 2017.
In previous statements by Education Minister Tarek Shawky on January 1, the Ministry of Education ordered the heads of educational departments across Egypt to periodically check on the types of books that are shelved in school libraries to ensure that they do not contain hate speech or incite violence.
Egypt already has 45,279 public schools with 18,608,730 students, according to the ministry’s statistics published in late July.
