CAIRO – 4 April 2017: Egyptian Journalist Youssef El Hosseiny was attacked by two Muslim Brotherhood members in Washington, D.C on Monday, where he is part of the Egyptian press delegation accompanying President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in his visit to the U.S.

“An extremist kid who cannot differentiate between freedom of speech and assault,” El Hosseiny said, describing his attacker on Amr Adeeb’s “Kol Youm ” talk show. “Just like the group he is affiliated with, he thinks that hitting someone makes him courageous.”

The attacker was captured by Egyptian citizens and handed over to police along with another man who was taking photos at the scene, El Hosseiny stated, adding that the two are currently being investigated.

El Husseiny further reflected on Sisi’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, praising the talks about increasing military cooperation between the two countries. He added that the meetings taking place with investors and businessmen might be even more important that than the political talks as they could enhance foreign investment in Egypt.

El Hosseiny is a talk show host on OnE TV channel.
