CAIRO – 4 December 2017: A total of 11 people were rescued offshore of Giftun Island after their fishing boat’s engine broke down Monday.

Maritime Rescue Society and Environmental Protection in Red Sea announced discovering a broken fishing boat that it lost contact with earlier after a distress call.

The boat was carrying eight Egyptian tourists and three boat crew members, said the head of the rescue association, Hassan el-Tayeb in a press statement.

Tayeb assured that all those who were on board of the boat are in good condition.
