CAIRO - 7 March 2017: Egyptian authorities sent former senior member of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Ahmed Ezz to Tora Prison Tuesday, along with former head of the Industrial Development Authority Amr Asal. Both defendants will be held in custody pending their trial on April 4 per a decision by the Cairo Criminal Court,

The court ruled Tuesday to adjourn the trial until April 4 and remand both defendants into custody until the next court date,

Both defendants face charges of squandering public funds and profiteering in the case known publicly as the ‘Steel Licenses’ case.

Ezz was sentenced to 10 years in prison in March 2013 in the same case, but the verdict was cancelled by the Court of Cassation in December of the same year.
