CAIRO – 2 March 2017: Dr. Mourad Wahba, the newly-appointed Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Arab States, will arrive in Egypt Friday to discuss development issues with high-level government officials, according to a press release by the UN office in Cairo.


The meetings will tackle sustainable development goals, efforts to eradicate poverty and empower women, climate change and

Egypt’s 2030 sustainable development strategy

that focuses on environmental, social and economic aspects.


Wahba will also be discussing regional cooperation with Arab leaders in his first visit to the region since his appointment as the UNDP Regional Director in February, the press release stated.


Wahba, who’s Egyptian, also serves as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of the UNDP and Chair of the Arab States and Middle East and North Africa Regional United Nations Development Group (UNDG).
