Exclusive images obtained by Egypt Today of the arrests ordered by Egypt's prosecutor general on Wednesday
CAIRO – 22 November 2017: CAIRO – 22 November 2017: Egypt's top prosecutor Nabil Sadeq ordered the arrest of 29 people Wednesday over charges of espionage for Turkey against Egypt national interest, revealed by Egypt's General Intelligence Service (GIS).
The defendants will remain in detention for 15 days pending investigations carried out by the Supreme State Security Prosecution.
The list of charges drawn against the defendants includes: conspiring with Turkey with the aim to harm national interests, joining terrorist organizations, conducting overseas calls without licensing, money laundering, and illegal currency trading.
