CAIRO – 29 October 2017: The Israeli Foreign Ministry, in cooperation with the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, is organizing a celebration on November 6, marking 40 years since the late President Anwar Sadat delivered his historic speech to the Knesset.

Egyptian ambassador to Israel Hazem Khairat, former Israeli ambassador to Egypt Haim Koren and a number of officials were invited to attend the ceremony.

On November 20, 1977, Sadat visited Jerusalem and delivered a historic speech before Israel’s Knesset and became the first leader of an Arab nation to speak there.

This visit came four years after Egypt’s 6 October Victory and was meant to develop ties between Egypt and Israel.
