FM: Cairo willing to participate in Astana’s negotiations

CAIRO-11 October 2017: Egypt is ready to exert efforts to solve the Syrian crisis and participate in the negotiations of Astana if requested from them, the Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Mohamed El Badry said on Wednesday.

On the other hand, "I will not be surprised if Egypt joins the Astana negotiations because we are certainly exerting all our efforts to find a solution to the Syrian crisis," he quoted to Sputnik news agency.

He added that Egypt played an important role in collecting several opposing factions to end up with a unified document and a road map since a year ago.
Moreover, the Syrian Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Maleem claimed that Damascus welcomes the presence of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and China in the Astana negotiations.
