CAIRO – 2 October 2017: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and deplored in a statement, the terror attack that took place on Sunday in Marseille, France.
“Egypt condemns all types of violence and terrorism that induce fear and destabilize the society,” the statement reads.

Asking the international community to firmly stand against terrorism, the ministry said that a general approach should be adopted to fight terrorist organizations, including equally punishing inciters and funders of terror, in addition to financial and ideological supporters of violence, and weapon suppliers.

Earlier on Sunday, French soldiers shot dead a man after he had stabbed two women to death at Marseille's main railway station. Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the group's Amaq news agency.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his outrage at the attack on his official Twitter account, and praised the reaction of the security services.
