CAIRO – 29 September 2017: Saudi Arabian women are finally allowed to hit the streets with their cars for the first time, and their Egyptian mates are coming in handy.

Chairperson of the National Committee for Driving Education Makhfour Al-Bishr announced that the committee is planning to establish nation-wide driving schools, where experienced trainers coming from Arab countries like Egypt, Jordon, Lebanon and Sudan will be hired to train women drivers, according to al-Arabiya news.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia issued a decree on Tuesday allowing women to drive cars, state media said, ending the conservative Islamic kingdom's status as the only country where that is forbidden.

The royal decree ordered the formation of a ministerial body to give advice within 30 days and then implement the order by June 2018, according to state news agency SPA.
