CAIRO – 19 September 2017: A human rights foundation placed an advertisement on the US-based free newspaper “Metro New York,” criticizing Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his continuous crackdown on freedom of press.

The ad listed the names of 159 journalists that were incarcerated in Turkey since July 2016, incorporating a picture of Erdogan and captioning it with “you are not welcome.”

Turkish president is slated to address the UN General assembly on Tuesday. Erdogan has repeatedly faced human rights organizations’ criticism over human rights violations and snuffing out of press freedom, especially following the failed coup that took place last year.
