CAIRO – 17 September 2017: Al-Azhar University President Mohamed Hussein el-Mahrsawy decides to refer both Dr Sabry Abdel-Raouf and Dr Soad Saleh to inquiry over allegation of sayings and fatwas, which contravene Al-Azhar’s approach on media, Al-Azhar University announced Sunday.

The investigation will include showing up on mass media without Al-Azhar’s permission, the university added.

On Saturday Dr Soad Saleh had an argument with Dr Sabry Abdel-Raouf over the intercourse between the man and his dead wife through “Amma Yatasa alun” program on “LTC” channel.

Saleh rejected the fatwa of Abdel-Raouf to permit such intercourse with the dead wife, likening it to adultery.

“We need to verify fatwas and make it compatible with the reality,” Saleh said, adding that there is no marriage after the death of one of the spouses.

On the other hand, Abdel-Raouf said that it is not forbidden to have intercourse with the dead wife.
