Arab League chief arrives in Erbil

BAGHDAD - 9 September 2017: Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul-Gheit arrived Saturday in Erbil coming from Baghdad.

He was received by Minister of Interior Karim Sinjari and Chief of Staff of the Kurdish presidency Fuad Hussein.

Aboul-Gheit is scheduled to hold meetings with top officials to discuss an independence referendum slated for September 25.

Earlier, he held a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Baghdad on the controversial voting.
