MOGADISHU - 30 August 2017: An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded Wednesday on the side of a road in Shebelle area south of Somalia, after a military convoy carrying African Union peacekeeping troops passed near it.

Terrorist Al Shabaab group claimed its responsibility for the attack, Shabelle Media Network reported.

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said that it clashed with Al Shabaab militants after the attack.

However, the clashes left two civilians dead and two others wounded, AMISOM added.
