CAIRO – 21 August 2017: Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leading member Amir Bassam reveals financial corruption of senior leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in his article published on Saturday on a pro-Brotherhood news website.

Bassam’s article entitled, ‘What comes after four years?’ criticized the leadership of the Brotherhood after the June 30 revolution events, and wished the Brotherhood leaders could meet with UN representatives and foreign countries’ ambassadors such as Turkey and Britain to convince them to back the Brotherhood’s moves against the Egyptian regime.

“I think the Brotherhood’s senior leaders are responsible for the failure and collapse of the organization due to their misconduct of the organization,” Bassam wrote addressing the front backing Mahmoud Ezzat.

He also criticized the Brotherhood’s “peaceful attitude” towards the Egyptian regime.
Bassam stated: “I wish I was able to answer questions about rigging the Brotherhood’s internal elections in some countries, and the cancellations of some others. I wish I was able to answer questions about a matter we never encountered before in the Brotherhood, that is, the exclusion of an official from undergoing official elections.” He openly condemned this breach of the Brotherhood’s ideology.

He noted that the Brotherhood’s senior leaders exploited the organization’s funds in travelling and staying at five-star hotels without caring about the organization’s financial circumstances.

“I wish the Brotherhood leaders would reconsider the organization’s integrity status that has been doubted by many of its members recently,” Bassam said.

He concluded his article by highlighting the internal dispute within the Brotherhood.

Bassam, who is 53 years old, is a leading member of the legislative body of the Brotherhood, the Shura Council. He joined the Brotherhood in 1981 when he was studying at the Faculty of Medicine.
