CAIRO – 6 August 2017: The Railway Authority announced that it started receiving applications on Saturday for the Transport Technical High School for the 2017/2018 academic year. An elementary education must be completed and a satisfactory level in English is required. Applications will be taken until August 24.

Candidates with the highest points will be selected, with a minimum of 210 points, on the condition of being medically fit and passing the personal interview. Applicants should also not be older than 18 years old.

After completing the three-year diploma, graduates will be hired by the authority. Applications must be physically handed in at the school, based in Werdan Institute, where the authority’s technicians receive training.

A source at the school told Egypt Today that the students would receive a dual degree in technical education and railway technicalities from the Ministry of Education.

The source said that the school was launched in the 1970s, but stopped to resume work last year, whereas there were 2,000 applicants; of which only 100 were admitted. This year the school plans to admit 300 students.

The source added that before the re-opening, the school had only two departments, but now it has six. Those six include electrical, mechanical, cooling, signals systems, and others.
