CAIRO – 26 July 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued Decree No. 301 of 2026, granting pardons for the remainder of the sentences of certain convicted inmates on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the July 23, 1952 Revolution.

Article 1 of the decree, published in the Official Gazette, stipulates that the remainder of prison sentences will be pardoned for the following categories:

- Those sentenced to life imprisonment and have served at least 15 years of their sentence by July 23, 2026. Those released under this provision will remain subject to police supervision for five years, in accordance with the second paragraph of Article 75 of the Penal Code.

- Those sentenced to a fixed prison term before July 23, 2026, provided they have served one-third of their sentence by that date, with the served portion being no less than four months. This provision also applies to inmates serving multiple prison sentences for different offences committed before entering a correctional and rehabilitation centre.
