CAIRO – 18 July 2026: Egypt and Turkey have concluded the joint military exercise "Golden Eagle," with the participation of Egypt's Paratroopers and Sa'ka (Thunderbolt) Forces alongside the Turkish Special Forces.
The exercises were conducted over several days at combat training facilities under the command of Egypt's Paratroopers and Sa'ka Forces.
The final phase of the exercise featured a simulated operation to raid a terrorist hideout in an urban environment using helicopters. The operation included rescuing hostages and apprehending armed militants.
Participating forces also conducted a series of conventional and unconventional live-fire drills, trained in close-quarters combat and room-clearing operations, practiced vertical assault techniques using an aircraft simulator, and received instruction in handling explosive devices, combat first aid, and life-saving procedures.
The training further included exercises on the use of drones and counter-drone tactics, free-fall simulation, and operational parachute jumps.
A joint "Friendship Jump" was also carried out, with paratroopers descending while carrying the national flags of Egypt and Turkey, demonstrating the high level of professionalism and operational readiness of the participating forces.
The closing phase of the exercise was attended by senior commanders from the Egyptian and Turkish armed forces, as well as the Turkish military attaché in Cairo.
