CAIRO – 15 July 2026: Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, held phone calls on Wednesday with Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates; and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait, to discuss the fallout of the dangerous escalation in the region.
The discussions addressed the renewed Iranian attacks targeting Oman, the strikes on the UAE-flagged oil tankers Mombasa and Al Bahia, and the recent attacks on Kuwait that resulted in casualties.
During the calls, the Secretary-General expressed his total condemnation of these hostile actions, emphasizing that they constitute a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, while posing a direct threat to regional security and stability.
Fahmy stressed that securing maritime navigation and respecting international law are fundamental pillars for safeguarding collective security and global economic stability.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the Arab League’s full solidarity with Oman, the UAE, and Kuwait, pledging support for all measures taken by these nations to protect their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and take decisive steps to prevent further escalation, underscoring the League’s rejection of any actions that threaten the stability of Arab states.
