Egypt reaffirms support for multilateral system in talks with Costa Rica's UN chief candidate

CAIRO – 12 July 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty met on Sunday with Costa Rica's candidate for the post of United Nations secretary-general, Rebeca Grynspan, as Egypt reaffirmed its support for the UN and the multilateral international system.

According to a Foreign Ministry statement, Grynspan outlined her vision for the United Nations' priorities in the coming period, with an emphasis on strengthening the organization's role and enhancing its ability to address growing global challenges.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for the United Nations and the multilateral international system, stressing the importance of upholding international law and the UN Charter.
