CAIRO - 11 July 2026: Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk revealed a significant increase in the volume of Egyptian agricultural exports, which have surpassed 5.8 million tons so far this year.
This confirms the growing global demand for Egyptian produce and reflects the country's success in developing the agricultural sector and enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage.
According to an official report issued by the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, within the Agricultural Services Sector, citrus fruits continued to lead exports with a quantity exceeding 2.2 million tons, while fresh potatoes came in second with quantities exceeding 908,000 tons.
Agricultural exports of sweet potatoes reached approximately 218,000 tons.
Egyptian Agricultural Exports
The report indicated that Egyptian agricultural exports of grapes exceeded 147,000 tons, while exports of fresh and dried beans reached approximately 125,000 tons. Exports of fresh onions exceeded 123,000 tons, and fresh strawberries exceeded 39,000 tons. Exports of fresh garlic reached approximately 34,000 tons, and fresh tomatoes 20,000 tons. In addition, significant quantities of guava and pomegranate crops were also exported, ranking highly, respectively, among the most important Egyptian agricultural exports.
In a related context, Farouk affirmed the Ministry's continued efforts, through the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine and in coordination with various relevant agencies, to open new global markets for Egyptian agricultural products across different continents.
These efforts aim to penetrate promising markets with stringent quarantine requirements, thereby contributing to expanding Egypt's export map and enhancing access for various agricultural goods to countries worldwide.
The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that this expansion and continuous growth represents a testament to increasing international confidence in the Egyptian monitoring and tracking system, and confirms that national produce meets the highest global safety and quality standards.
He noted the ongoing collaboration with producers and exporters to maintain these achievements and support the national economy.
