President Sisi congratulates Egyptian natopnal football taem for qualifying for Round of 16 of World Cup

CAIRO – 4 July 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated the Egyptian national football team for winning their match against Australia on penalty kicks (4-2), qualifying for the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in the team's history. The two teams had drawn 1-1 during regulation and extra time before the match was decided by a penalty shootout.

On his official social media accounts, President Sisi said: "I congratulate the sons of Egypt, the heroes of the national football team, on this historic achievement of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time in the team's history."
