CAIRO - 30 June 2026: Egypt and Turkey have unified their intelligence tracks to push for a comprehensive regional settlement, convening a high-level summit with top Hamas leaders.

According to a Tuesday diplomatic statement, the summit aimed at clearing obstacles blocking the implementation of the U.S. peace plan.

Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) Director Hassan Rashad met with his Turkish counterpart Ibrahim Kalin to address critical security files, prioritizing the stabilization of the Gaza Strip and Libya.

Amid extraordinary regional challenges threatening Middle East stability, both intelligence chiefs affirmed the critical necessity of intensifying joint operations to secure long-term international peace.

In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, the two intelligence directors held a joint meeting with senior Hamas leaders, including Khaled Meshaal, Khalil al-Hayya, and Mohammad Hassan.

The Hamas leadership explicitly affirmed their full endorsement of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace roadmap, pledging to dismantle any remaining hurdles impeding the deal.

Following the intelligence summit, a formal Hamas negotiating delegation arrived in Cairo to resume structured talks on the roadmap's second phase.

High-level security sources described the initial atmosphere in the capital as "overwhelmingly positive," noting strong optimism surrounding the completion of the peace framework.
