Egyptian, Pakistan FMs discuss regional developments after US–Iran deal

CAIRO - 19 June 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar to discuss regional developments following the US–Iran memorandum of understanding.

 

Abdelatty welcomed the agreement reached between Washington and Tehran, expressing appreciation for the efforts made by Pakistan and other regional actors in helping to facilitate the deal.

 

Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of the step in easing regional tensions and preventing further escalation.

 

For his part, the Pakistani foreign minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s role, in coordination with regional partners, in supporting the negotiation process and bridging gaps between the parties, which helped create the conditions for reaching the understanding.

 

Both ministers stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultations in the coming period to ensure the implementation of the memorandum and reach a final, sustainable agreement that addresses the interests and concerns of all parties, strengthens diplomatic solutions, and contributes to regional peace and stability.
