CAIRO – 14 June 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty departed for Belgium and Luxembourg to meet with senior European officials and co-chair the Association Council meeting focused on Egypt-European Union partnership.

In the Belgian capital, Brussels, Abdelatty will hold talks with senior officials at EU institutions, the foreign ministry said in a statement.

He will then travel to Luxembourg on Monday to co-chair the 11th meeting of the Association Council between the European Union and Egypt, alongside EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica will represent the European Commission.

The Association Council will review the implementation of the EU-Egypt Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, launched in March 2024, according to the European Council.

The meeting is expected to review progress made under the six pillars of the partnership: political relations, economic stability, trade and investment, migration and mobility, security, and demography and human capital.

The two sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, including developments across the Middle East and North Africa and their impact on their cooperation.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Abdelatty is set to hold a series of bilateral meetings with European foreign ministers and senior officials to discuss bilateral ties and n a range of regional and international issues.
