CAIRO – 14 June 2026: Egypt on Sunday reaffirmed its support for state sovereignty and territorial integrity in the Horn of Africa and its rejection of unilateral actions undermining regional stability, the foreign ministry said.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Djiboutian Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar exchanged views on the latest political and security developments in the region.
They discussed ways to support efforts aimed at promoting stability and enhancing regional peace and security.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of supporting national state institutions and preserving the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries in the Horn of Africa.
Unilateral Moves, Parallel Entities
He also reiterated Egypt's rejection of any unilateral actions that could undermine the sovereignty of states or threaten the foundations of regional stability, as well as any attempts to impose parallel entities that conflict with the unity and territorial integrity of countries in the region.
The ministers underscored the importance of continued coordination and consultation on regional and international issues, particularly efforts to promote peace, security and stability in Africa and the Red Sea region.
Abdelatty also praised the momentum in relations between Egypt and Djibouti and the shared commitment to expanding cooperation across a range of sectors, particularly energy, logistics, ports, maritime connectivity and infrastructure.
Boosting Bilateral Ties
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed the importance of continued coordination to implement joint projects that would help boost bilateral trade and encourage investment.
He also highlighted the need to support the participation of Egyptian private-sector companies in the Djiboutian market.
Abdelatty further underscored the importance of strengthening technical cooperation in capacity-building through training programs organized by Egyptian institutions, according to the ministry.
