CAIRO – 6 June 2026: Egypt strongly condemned the Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, describing them as a blatant violation of the two countries’ sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the Gulf region and the broader Middle East.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt expressed its full solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain and reaffirmed its support for all measures taken by both countries to safeguard their security, protect their territories, and defend vital infrastructure.

Cairo reiterated that the security and stability of the Gulf states are an essential component of Arab national security, stressing its firm rejection of any actions that undermine state sovereignty or threaten territorial integrity.

The condemnation came as Kuwaiti authorities reported that air defense systems had intercepted incoming missile and drone attacks. The Kuwaiti Army stated that explosions heard in certain areas resulted from successful interception operations carried out by its air defense units.

Meanwhile, the Bahrain Defence Force announced that Iranian missile and drone attacks had targeted civilian areas in the kingdom, describing the strikes as a continued act of aggression against Bahrain.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for attacks on Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and facilities linked to the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, saying the strikes were carried out in response to reported attacks on Qeshm and Sirik islands.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward Gulf countries and the Strait of Hormuz on June 5. CENTCOM stated that Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain after U.S. forces had previously shot down four Iranian drones.
