CAIRO – 5 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held phone calls on Friday with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.

The calls addressed the rapidly evolving situation in the region, particularly the Iranian crisis and its implications for regional security and stability, as well as developments in Sudan.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the discussions covered the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations and the diplomatic efforts underway to reach a mutually acceptable settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties, including the Gulf states, while strengthening regional security and stability.

The ministers also discussed developments in the Sudanese crisis. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm and unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the need to preserve Sudanese national institutions as the cornerstone of restoring security and stability and rejecting any parallel entities.

He also stressed the importance of achieving a humanitarian truce as a precursor to a sustainable ceasefire, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and supporting a comprehensive political process led and owned by Sudanese stakeholders. Such a process, he said, should restore security and stability and fulfill the aspirations of the brotherly Sudanese people.
