CAIRO – 3 June 2026: Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday a reduction in the staff of the Iranian Embassy and declared two members of the diplomatic mission persona non grata.
The move followed the summoning of Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Kuwait and the delivery of an official protest note regarding the Iranian attacks.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned the attack carried out by Iran on Wednesday, noting that it caused damage to vital facilities, including diplomatic missions.
The Ministry stated that the attacks resulted in one death and several injuries. It emphasized Kuwait’s categorical rejection of what it described as Iran’s blatant acts of aggression, which escalate tensions, undermine regional security and stability, and constitute a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
The Ministry stressed that the security, sovereignty, and safety of Kuwait’s citizens and residents are inviolable red lines. It added that the recurrence of such attacks reflects a systematic and aggressive approach that Kuwait will neither accept nor tolerate.
Kuwait also affirmed its full and inherent right to take appropriate measures in response to these repeated attacks, in accordance with international law.
The latest incident marks the third attack on Kuwait in less than a week. The Kuwaiti Army announced on Monday and Thursday that it had intercepted missile and drone attacks of unspecified origin.
