CAIRO – 1 June 2026: The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said in a joint statement that Egypt is taking significant steps to strengthen its financial capacity to address disasters and climate-related risks through the development of a national disaster risk financing strategy.
The statement was issued during a workshop held in Cairo with the participation of UN agencies and relevant national stakeholders. The event was organized by UNDRR and UNDP in coordination with the National Committee for Crisis Management and Disaster Risk Reduction, which operates under the Prime Minister's Office.
