CAIRO - 11 May 2026: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, French President Emmanuel Macron and leaders of more than 30 African countries are participating in the Africa-France Summit, which kicked off Monday in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, under the theme “Africa Forward”, to discuss ways of strengthening trade and economic partnership between France and African nations.
The two-day summit is also attended by United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, head of the African Union, business leaders, international financial institutions, development partners and representatives of the African and French business sectors.
The summit agenda includes issues related to peace and security, activating sustainable financing and reforming the international financial system, transitions in the energy sector, green manufacturing, development of the blue economy, infrastructure, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainable agriculture, food security and health.
The Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the summit will discuss trade, investment, innovation, climate change and regional integration issues.
In a statement, the ministry said the summit will focus on enhancing cooperation between Africa and France and advancing dialogue on investment and trade issues.
The “Africa Forward 2026” initiative aims to drive innovation, strengthen partnerships, support sustainable and inclusive growth and develop practical solutions to shared challenges, ranging from economic development to global governance.
