Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty
CAIRO - 2 May 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, praised the strong relations between Egypt and Mali, reiterating Egypt's condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in the Republic of Mali.
He affirmed Egypt's full solidarity with Mali in confronting these terrorist acts and its categorical rejection of all attacks that undermine the security and stability of the Malian state.
This came during a phone call the Minister received from Abdoulaye Diop, the Malian Foreign Minister, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel region.
The Foreign Minister stressed Egypt's firm stance against all forms of terrorism and extremism, noting the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to combat this phenomenon, cut off its funding sources, and confront the extremist ideology that fuels it. This, he emphasized, would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the Sahel region and the African continent, within a comprehensive approach that links security and development.
For his part, the Malian Foreign Minister reviewed the latest security developments in his country and the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism in order to achieve security and stability in Mali, addressing the rapidly evolving situation there.
In a related context, the two ministers exchanged views on ways to establish stability, security, peace, and development in Africa.
Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination within bilateral and multilateral frameworks, building on the existing political and developmental momentum to serve common interests and contribute to supporting stability and development in Africa.
