Trump posts mocked-up image holding rifle, says 'Iran better get smart soon'

WASHINGTON – 29 April 2026: US President Donald Trump warned Iran to “get smart soon” and agree to a “non-nuclear deal,” posting a digitally altered image of himself holding an assault rifle with the caption “No more Mr. Nice Guy.”

In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said: “Iran can’t get their act together. They don’t know how to sign a non-nuclear deal. They better get smart soon!”

Trump’s remarks come after Iran reportedly submitted a proposal to end the war and reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz, while delaying nuclear talks to a later phase.

 

Trump told advisers he is not satisfied with the proposal for failing to address Iran’s nuclear program, according to media reports.

“Iran has just informed us that they are in a ‘state of collapse.’ They want us to ‘open the Hormuz Strait’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (which I believe they will be able to do!),” Trump wrote on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, US officials told The Wall Street Journal that Trump has instructed aides to prepare for an extended blockade of Iranian ports to further pressure Iran and force it to capitulate.
