CAIRO - 27 April 2026: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls on Monday with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey to discuss efforts to halt regional escalation and support negotiations.
The talks focused on rapid regional developments and the importance of intensifying efforts to support the U.S.-Iranian negotiation track.
Abdelatty and his counterparts emphasized the need for a consensual settlement and a commitment to the negotiated approach to ensure a ceasefire, end the war, and reduce regional tension.
In a Monday statement, the Foreign Ministry noted that the discussions also addressed ensuring the freedom of navigation, highlighting the grave repercussions that maritime disruptions have on global supply chains and the international economy.
Abdelatty reiterated that regional stability requires respecting state sovereignty and addressing the security concerns of regional countries, particularly the Gulf nations.
He stressed that prioritizing dialogue remains the only path to peace and security.
