CAIRO – 25 April 2026: Egypt renewed its condemnation of drone strikes that targeted two northern posts in Kuwait, voicing support to all Kuwaiti authorities’ measures to secure the country’s borders and safeguard its resources.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s position during a phone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Saturday.

The Kuwaiti military said on Friday that two of the country’s northern land border posts were targeted by “two explosive-laden drones guided by fiber-optic cables.”

The military asserted in a post on X that the drones originated from Iraq and that the strikes cause material damage, while leaving no human casualties.

Egypt has condemned the attacks and stressed that “the security of Kuwait is an integral part of the Egyptian national security.”

The Egyptian foreign minister underscored Egypt’s full solidarity with the government and people of Kuwait as well as other Gulf states in the face of any attempts to destabilize them or undermine their security.

The foreign ministers also discussed developments in the path of negotiations between the United States and Iran.

They affirmed the need to hold the second round of US-Iran talks to consolidate the current ceasefire, sustain de-escalation and end the war, sparing the region further dangerous repercussions.

In this file, Abdelatty stressed the need for taking into consideration the security concerns of the Gulf states.
