CAIRO – 25 April 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned that the Middle East is facing “deliberate attempts to reshape its map under extremist ideological pretexts,” as he addressed the nation in a speech marking Sinai Liberation Day.

El-Sisi said the region is going through “delicate and critical circumstances,” stressing that Egypt believes the path forward for the region should not be based on occupation, destruction, or bloodshed.

Instead, cooperation, reconstruction, and peace remain the only path for prosperity to prevail for all, the president stressed.

He emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and to halt attempts to divide and dismantle countries in the region or seize their resources.

The president also cautioned against inciting internal conflict, civil wars, and international wars.

El-Sisi underscored that political solutions and negotiations remain the optimal means to spare the region further disasters, bloodshed and devastation.

Supporting Arab States

Amid the current war in Iran, El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s condemnation of the recent attacks targeting several Arab states.

Egypt has rejected any infringement on their sovereignty or violation of these Arab countries’ territorial integrity and declared its full support for them, the president affirmed.

He added that Egypt continues to take well-established political positions in support of Arab rights before international organizations, without equivocation or compromise.

El-Sisi stressed that “solidarity is the only way for the countries of the region to overcome hardships” and that “Egypt will remain the pillar and cornerstone for its Ummah, defending its causes and working sincerely to advance its supreme interests.”

Determination amid Challenges

Despite the major challenges Egypt and the region have faced over the past decade, the Egyptian state–with firm will and unwavering determination—has chosen to pursue the path of construction and development—without pause or delay,” El-Sisi said.

The president underscored “the heavy repercussions” of subsequent challenges, including the war on terrorism, the coronavirus pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war, the war in Gaza, and most recently, the war in Iran.

He highlighted that Egypt lost around LE 10 billion in Suez Canal revenues due to attacks on vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The president also underlined challenges stemming from the arrival of nearly ten million migrants from brotherly and friendly countries, and the global surge in food and energy prices.

“Despite the magnitude of these challenges, Egypt, by the grace of Allah, through hard work, and the resilience and endurance of its people, has overcome one crisis after another,” El-Sisi stated.

He added that Egypt “has maintained its stability until it became an oasis of security and safety in a region beset by volatility on all fronts.”

The president underscored his awareness of the pressures facing the Egyptian people, adding that “we are working with all our strength and capacity to alleviate burdens and mitigate repercussions as much as possible.”

He affirmed that building a strong and resilient state is the surest guarantee of safeguarding the nation and its citizens.

The president extended a message of reassurance to Egyptians that “no matter how great the challenges become, and no matter how severe conflicts and crises escalate in our regional environment, Egypt, by Allah’s will and through your cohesion, awareness, and understanding, will remain steadfast, resilient to penetration or defeat.”

Sinai Liberation, Development

El-Sisi marked the 44th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, describing it as “a defining moment in the nation’s history that was not merely the recovery of occupied land, but a lasting affirmation and declaration that Egypt does not relinquish even a grain of its soil, nor does it accept compromise over its rights or its land.”

“This day embodied a firm truth: that a right, no matter how long the path to it, does not fade, but is restored through unwavering faith, strong determination, and sincere effort.”

“Sinai is not merely a geographic part of the homeland; it is its fortified gateway, nourished by the blood of martyrs and adorned with the resilience of heroes.”

“It stands as a testament that the great Egyptian people are capable of achieving miracles, and that its valiant army is the shield and the sword, liberating the land yesterday, safeguarding it today, and remaining fully capable of deterring anyone who might attempt to approach Egypt or threaten its national security.”

The president extended his highest tribute and appreciation to the armed forces and the civil police who safeguard internal security.

He expressed his deepest respect and gratitude to the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, “the man with insightful vision and firm resolve toward peace in the region.”

The president also commended the Egyptian legal team that “fought the battle of international arbitration with skill and determination, leading to the recovery of Taba.”

This has led to “the completion of the saga of liberation and restoration of Sinai entirely under Egyptian sovereignty, standing proud within the embrace of the beloved homeland after military battles, political debates, and legal negotiations carried out by Egypt’s sons on various fronts.”

El-Sisi shed light on ongoing development efforts in Sinai, calling it “an extension of the battle of yesterday.”

“The battle of yesterday, fought by Egyptians with arms, sacrifice, and intellect, has today extended into a battle of construction and development.”

“Just as we reclaimed the land through sacrifice, we now preserve and build it through hard work and dedication.”

Gaza Ceasefire

El-Sisi spoke about Gaza during his remarks to the nation.

He called for the full implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, including the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid and the immediate start of reconstruction efforts.

The president also reiterated Egypt’s “unequivocal rejection, without any room for interpretation or compromise, of of any attempts to displace Palestinians under any circumstances.”

He also urged halting repeated attacks against the Palestinian people in the West Bank, in order to protect their rights, preserve their dignity, and uphold the values of justice and humanity.

‘Peace is Egypt’s Choice’

El-Sisi reaffirm that peace remains “Egypt's choice,” adding that this choice is “grounded in strength, wisdom, and firm conviction, not in weakness, hesitation, or fear.”

He emphasized that “the Egyptian Armed Forces, with their doctrine and competence, are capable of protecting and defending the homeland and confronting anyone who attempts to undermine its national security or compromise its stability.”
