CAIRO – 22 April 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decree designating Thursday, May 7, as an official paid holiday for workers in the public and private sectors on the occasion of Labor Day.

The decision applies to employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector companies, the Cabinet said on Wednesday.

The holiday will replace May 1, 2026, which is the original date of Labor Day, as it falls on a Friday, the weekly rest day in Egypt.
