CAIRO - 21 April 2026: Governor of Cairo Dr. Ibrahim Saber, conducted an inspection tour Tuesday to monitor the ongoing construction work at the stray dog shelter project.
The tour aimed to assess the progress of the project, which is part of the governorate's plan to find scientific and humane solutions to the problem of stray dogs in the governorate.
A civilized shelter in Tebin
The Governor of Cairo indicated that this shelter is being established through fruitful cooperation between the governorate, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the General Authority for Veterinary Services.
The project, located on a 5,000 square meter plot east of the Autostrad Road in Tebin, aims to provide a safe haven for stray dogs, ensuring public safety without compromising animal welfare.
The Governor of Cairo emphasized that the shelter, expected to be completed within two months, will be managed scientifically and systematically, based on the principle that animal welfare is essential for maintaining ecological balance.
He explained that the shelter will be managed in cooperation with the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Cairo Veterinary Directorate, in addition to opening the door to collaboration with NGOs and civil society organizations concerned with animal welfare issues to participate in managing the shelter and providing care.
Comprehensive Medical Care and Adoption
The Governor of Cairo added that the shelter will include a team of specialized veterinarians to provide the necessary medical services, and will also provide equipped facilities for the dogs' care.
The Governor revealed that a dog adoption service will be available through the shelter, after ensuring that the dogs are completely free of diseases and have received all the necessary vaccinations and immunizations, to guarantee a safe and healthy environment.
