CAIRO - 16 April 2026: As part of the Egypt's efforts to promote health awareness, the Ministry of Health and Population, within the framework of the 100 Million Healthy Lives Initiative, revealed the most prominent symptoms that necessitate immediate medical attention for early screening to prevent cervical cancer.

The Ministry emphasized that early detection plays a crucial role in increasing recovery rates, stressing the importance of not ignoring any abnormal symptoms.

The most prominent symptoms that warrant screening include:

- Unusual bleeding between menstrual periods or after menopause.

- Increased or changed vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor.

- Persistent pain in the back, legs, or pelvic area.

- Weight loss, fatigue, and loss of appetite.

- Swelling in the legs.

Early Detection is Safer

The Ministry of Health explained that presidential initiatives, most notably the initiative for early detection and treatment of cancerous tumors, provide free screening and treatment services through units and centers located throughout all governorates.

The ministry also urged women to take advantage of these services and to contact the hotlines (15335 – 105) for support and information.

A message of reassurance:

The ministry emphasized that the appearance of these symptoms does not necessarily mean a cancer diagnosis, but it is an indicator that warrants early medical examination to ensure accurate diagnosis and timely treatment.
