CAIRO – 16 April 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to promote security and stability in the Middle East and Africa, stressing that the Egypt-US partnership serves as a cornerstone of these efforts.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Gregory Meeks, Ranking Member of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, in Washington on Wednesday.

The meeting addressed ways to support the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US and enhance existing cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, military, and security fields.

Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to continue coordination and cooperation with both houses of Congress, strengthening the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries.

The foreign minister addressed the numerous threats and challenges facing the region, which places an increasing responsibility on its countries to maintain national security and preserve regional and international peace.

Their discussions covered the military escalation in the region and Egypt's efforts to de-escalate tensions, developments in the Palestinian cause, and the situations in Lebanon and Sudan.

Meeks, for his part, commended Egypt's role in supporting security and stability in the Middle East and Africa, and expressed his hope for further cooperation and coordination to achieve the interests of both countries.
