CAIRO - 13 April 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments with U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff in a Sunday phone call following recent U.S.-Iran negotiations in Islamabad.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said that Witkoff briefed Abdelatty on the U.S. position during the talks. The call comes as part of ongoing coordination between Cairo and Washington.
Abdelatty emphasized the importance of adhering to diplomatic tracks and dialogue to reach a consensus on regional concerns.
for his part, Witkoff praised Egypt’s efforts in supporting Middle East security, noting that the U.S. continues to rely on Cairo’s role in stabilization.
